The mouth is bound. The eyes are not. They look directly at you — clear, blue, unflinching — and say everything the red cloth was meant to stop. This is a painting about the things we are told not to say, and the impossible fact that they are always, somehow, said anyway. Silence is never truly silent. It just finds another way.
